Home Care Aide Training (HCAT)
Educating for immediate employment
Since 2011, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries has been offering Home Care Aide Training (HCAT) to motivated and compassionate adult students who are interested in providing basic care and assistance to seniors, the ill and the disabled in our area. HCAT is the starting point for home healthcare training.
In only three weeks of classes, students learn the skills necessary to be a Home Care Aide, a full-time job with flexible work hours. Graduates of the program support and care for clients by helping them with:
- Personal care
- Errands
- Cooking
- Laundry
- Homemaking
Program qualifications:
- No high school diploma or GED is required to participate, but basic reading and math skills are important for quality job performance. We will help students meet these requirements.
- Full tuition is $800; however, scholarships are available (based on income), making the average out-of-pocket cost $100-150, with a $25 down payment due on the first day of class.
Class schedule:
- TBD
Class details:
- Average class size is 10-14 students.
- Attendance is mandatory for all sessions for the three weeks.
- The class uniform is scrubs.
- Once you complete the training, we offer coaching support and onsite interviews for employment, so you can find a match to employment as soon as possible.
- Open application sessions are on Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m., at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries headquarters: 1602 Madison Road, Cincinnati (behind St. Francis DeSales School). No appointment is necessary.
